About the UENO_Syndicate Collective

UENO_SYNDICATE is a group of artists from Austria, Germany, France, and Slovakia who met during their residency at Tokyo University of the Arts. Bonded by friendship and a shared vision of collective artistic expression, they have joined forces to create annual collaborative projects and exhibitions.

The collective specializes in immersive art installations that incorporate both visual and performative elements. By blending various artistic media and methodologies, they aim to create unique experiences that invite visitors to actively engage with the spaces and discover new perspectives.

Central to their work are themes of perspective, experience, and memory, as well as the concept of translation. They explore the idea that some words in the languages we speak cannot be translated, placing these untranslatable words at the heart of their artistic exploration.

The artists strive to create atmospheric spaces that foster encounters and performative interventions, offering visitors a chance to interact with and reflect on the art in profound ways.
