Audiovisual exploration of the International Phonetic Alphabet
In my bachelor thesis, I focused on the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), which documents all the sounds found in human languages worldwide. By exploring audiovisual concepts, complex relationships between language, phonetics, and visual representation are illustrated.
Lichtermeer
The work explores the delicate dance between natural and artificial light, drawing inspiration from the stark contrast between the quiet serenity of rural nights and the electrifying pulse of the city after dark. This installation translates these opposing experiences into an interactive play of light, using TouchDesigner to generate shifting patterns that mirror both the tranquil rhythms of the countryside and the dynamic energy of urban life. Originally presented at the Toride Geisai Festival in Tokyo, the work later traveled to Weimar’s Irre Space, inviting audiences to navigate the intersection of two worlds through light and interaction.
